Twelve leading Cincinnati Businesses were recognized as Finalists in the University of Cincinnati's Goering Center for Family and Private Business, Family Business of the Decade Awards on August 25, 2009. The twelve finalists were Busken Bakery, Flottman Co., Gardner Publications, Inc., Graeter's, JTM Food Group, The Long-Stanton Group, National Band & Tag, Rumpke Consolidated Co., SpringDot, Steinhauser Inc., Valley Interior Systems and the Verdin Co.
The committee that selected the finalists for the Family Business of the Decade had quite a challenge narrowing the pool of over 350 Nominees down to the final 12,' said Larry Grypp, President of the Goering Center. 'The judges looked at many factors, including their positive family-business lineage, their business success, their multiple family member and/or multiple generation involvement, their contributions to community and industry, and their innovative business practices, products or strategies.'
The ceremony, which took place at Cincinnati's Music Hall, featured a presentation by inspirational speaker Matthew Kelley, who encouraged the audience to look at the Decade Finalists for inspiration for growing and maintaining their own businesses.
The winners of the Family Business of the Decade Award were Gardner Publications Inc. and The Long-Stanton Group.
"JTM Food Group is very appreciative of being named a finalist in the Goering Center's prestigious Family Business of the Decade Awards," says Mr. Jack Maas Jr., Co-Owner of JTM Food Group. 'We believe this award speaks of the great team we have at JTM Food Group, not just the three generations of family members working together, but extended to the entire team of employees here at JTM Food Group.'
