South Coast Plaza announces that The Capital Grille, the nationally acclaimed fine-dining restaurant group, will open an 9,500 square foot location in Costa Mesa in the Fall of 2010. The Capital Grille Costa Mesa, which will be the restaurant's 42nd location, follows The Capital Grille's California debut at the Beverly Center in Beverly Hills.
"We are excited to bring The Capital Grille to the Orange County community," said John Martin, President of The Capital Grille. "The Capital Grille's atmosphere of relaxed elegance provides Californians with a professional, welcoming dining experience, exceptional food and wines and an active lounge area. We look forward to area visitors, residents and business professionals embracing us as a new local dining choice."
Known for its dry aged, hand-carved steaks, fresh seafood and extensive, award-winning wine list, The Capital Grille is routinely recognized by Wine Spectator magazine, and recently received the renowned American Culinary Federation's "Achievement of Excellence Award."
"The Capital Grille's wine list features over 350 selections from the finest wine-growing areas from across California and the world," Martin continues. "The restaurant strives to offer wines that are a true expression of the grape varietal, and that pair well with our cuisine." In addition to offering bottles at a wide variety of price points, including 30 wines under $30, The Capital Grille features 25 wines by the glass. Roughly 3,000 bottles will be housed in the restaurant's floor-to-ceiling, temperature-controlled wine kiosk. The Capital Grille offers a private wine locker membership by annual lease.
The restaurant will also create Chef's daily features made with local Californian and artisanal ingredients. Perennial appetizer favorites include Lobster and Crab Cakes and Signature Pan-Fried Calamari with Hot Cherry Peppers. The Capital Grille's critically heralded, diverse menu includes Porcini Rubbed Delmonico with 12-Year Aged Balsamic, Kona Crusted Dry Aged Sirloin with Caramelized Shallot Butter, Seared Citrus Glazed Salmon, Lobster Mac 'N' Cheese and Flourless Chocolate Espresso Cake, among others.
The Capital Grille will offer complimentary valet service and open on the south side of South Coast Plaza, facing Bristol Street. The renowned shopping, cultural and dining destination attracts approximately 24 million domestic and international visitors annually. Surrounded by central business district high-rises, Segerstrom Center for the Arts, Edison Field and John Wayne Airport, South Coast Plaza's prime location allows The Capital Grille guests to enjoy lunch, dinner, drinks and private events in the heart of Orange County's social and cultural center.
"South Coast Plaza is renowned for its award-winning fine dining and identifying restaurants that share our vision of excellence in an on-going process. The Capital Grille fits the bill perfectly with its commitment to comfortable elegance and exceptional cuisine and wine," remarked Debra Gunn Downing, executive director of marketing for the internationally recognized shopping center.
The Capital Grille will offer elegant interiors featuring portraits of prominent Southern Californians. The restaurant's private dining rooms, accommodating small to large parties, are each equipped with audio-visual equipment, including hi-definition flat screen televisions. The Executive Chef is delighted to create customized menus for private dining special events.
