  • Restaurant News Resource Affordable and Delicious - Kolaches Available for First Time to Busy City Dwellers

Kolache Mama announced the opening of its first location today, serving up "fast food for foodies." Located at 45 East 45th Street outside the Roosevelt Hotel, Kolache Mama is the first store in New York City to exclusively offer this delicious baked good.

With cult followings in other U.S. regions, kolaches are light and flavorful, fresh-baked goods filled with various sweet or savory ingredients. To bring this popular baked good to NYC, Kolache Mama retained a team of world-class chefs to create an original menu for this new brand. The menu creations were largely the brainchild of the Culinary Institute of America-trained Head Chef Christopher Lampo.

Affordably priced at $3 each, Kolache Mama carefully crafts each kolache with high-quality, sustainably-produced, wholesome ingredients. Menu selections feature a variety of flavors in three categories: "Veggie Mama" (e.g. "Combo Nosh" with hummus, tabbouleh, tzatziki and hot sauce, "Twice Baked Potato," etc.), "Meatie Mama" (e.g. "Bacon, Egg and Cheese," "The Philly Beef," etc.) and "Sweetie Mama" (e.g. "Baked Apple," "Chocolate Ganache," etc.). New York favorites will include "The Rueben" and "The Street Dog," among others.

"Food operations with great flavors and affordable price points are in high demand right now," says Richard Saler, Founder. "Kolache Mama is the perfect choice for city dwellers seeking an inexpensive meal or snack that accommodates their fast-paced lifestyles. Our kolaches are not only made with fresh, wholesome ingredients, but they're also portable and easy to re-heat."

Kolache Mama plans to launch its first three grab-and-go stores in New York City by the end of 2009 and quickly expand into other metropolitan areas, such as Washington, D.C., Boston, Chicago, Atlanta, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Logos, product and company names mentioned are the property of their respective owners.
