KFC Launches First-Ever 'Float Thru' Restaurant
KFC has set out to feed the fleets! The world's largest chicken chain is launching their newest tasty Value Menu items with a different kind of launch - the nautical launch of the first-ever 'Float Thru' restaurant.
From KFC-branded potholes to corporate logos visible from space, the brand known for eye-catching marketing firsts is at it again. Now, for the first time ever, boaters who visit the drive-thru window on the water will get a chance to sample KFC's Ultimate Value menu items for free.
Throughout the weekend and in conjunction with the 2009 AVP Crocs Cup Championship Kentucky Grilled Chicken Chicago Open, the KFC 'Float Thru' will set sail on Lake Michigan, offering captains and deckhands alike a taste of southern hospitality. Boaters, jet skiers or anyone else aboard a vessel can enjoy free KFC lunch courtesy of the Float Thru, located just off shore of Oak Street Beach, site of the professional volleyball tournament.

'Our newest Value Menu items, including our Grilled Chicken Value Box, Mini Melts and Brownie Bites are a perfect mix of affordable, portable and delicious. Menu offerings that versatile deserved a unique launch and serving as title sponsor for the 2009 AVP Kentucky Grilled Chicken Chicago Open gave us the perfect platform to do just that.'
'As a professional volleyball player, I pride myself on knowing how to serve well,' said AVP professional Elaine Youngs. 'Nicole and I were excited to help serve KFC Value Menu items via the Float Thru because serving fans food from boat to boat is a score for everyone involved.'
'We're used to serving the competition, but we don't get to 'serve' AVP fans very often,' added Youngs' AVP teammate Nicole Branagh. 'The Value Menu Float Thru allowed Elaine and me to add another 'first' to our memorable 2009 season.'
