Einstein Bros. Bagels Continues Aggressive Nationwide Expansion Through Licensing

  • Einstein Noah Restaurant Group Twelve Licensed Stores Opened Already in 2009; 20 More Planned for Remainder of Year

    The nation is a big doughy bagel to Einstein Bros. and the brand is spreading its famous shmears all across it.

    Today, the popular quick-casual bakery chain's parent company, Einstein Noah Restaurant Group (NASDAQ:BAGL) , announced that Einstein Bros. Bagels will continue its rapid growth through licensing during the remainder of this year and into 2010. Current plans call for more than 20 additional licensed store openings in the coming months.

    "Einstein Bros. has proven to be a favorite among college students, military personnel, medical center professionals and travelers in large transportation hubs and hotels," said Paul Carolan, senior vice president of franchising and licensing operations for Einstein Bros. "Even in this difficult economic environment, we have built tremendous momentum behind our licensing program."

    Increasingly a desired choice for reputable dining management groups such as ARAMARK, Sodexo, Chartwells and AFFES, Einstein Bros. offers quality, freshness and convenience in highly-trafficked venues where portability and affordability are essential.

    Twelve new licensed stores highlight the chain's expansion through the first two quarters in 2009. The new locations in the 2nd quarter include: The University of Texas - El Paso, Georgia Southern University, The University of North Carolina - Charlotte, Fort Erwin (California), Fort Lee (Virginia), Bellarmine University, (Louisville, KY) and the National Security Agency offices at Fort George G. Meade (Maryland).

    "Our menu is filled with a wide variety of distinct sandwiches, bagels, shmears, soups, salads and freshly brewed coffees," added Carolan. "We are bringing menu innovation to the casual bakery foodservice sector."

    By the end of 2009, the Company plans to have more than 180 licensed Einstein Bros. locations across the United States, along with 500-plus corporate and franchised stores.
