Long John Silver's First Quick Service Restaurant to Debut Baja Fish Tacos Nationwide

Long John Silver's, the world's most popular seafood restaurant chain, introduces the next generation of seafood with the brand's biggest national food giveaway featuring its new Baja Fish Tacos. Seafood fans will celebrate with Long John Silver's across the nation by receiving a free Baja Fish Taco at participating restaurants during its Free Baja Fish Taco Day, Tuesday, July 14, open to 2:30 p.m.

Long John Silver's introduced its world-famous recipe for batter-dipped fish 40 years ago and now is the first national quick service restaurant to serve the latest food trend of Baja Fish Tacos.

'Fish tacos, a long-time favorite recipe in coastal areas, are rapidly becoming a passion for the rest of the country,' said Ben Butler, president of Long John Silver's. 'We're proud to be the first quick service restaurant to spread this latest food craze across the nation and meet the needs of contemporary taste buds.'

Inspired by the heritage and flavor of Baja California, Mexico, Long John Silver's Baja Fish Tacos feature classic batter-dipped fish layered inside a soft flour tortilla with crunchy crumblies, crisp lettuce and the tangy taste of Baja sauce.

Recently, tortillas and Mexican-inspired flavors ranked high in the National Restaurant Association's 'What's Hot in 2009' trend survey. Baja Fish Tacos are anticipated to become one of the most popular indulgences across all Long John Silver's restaurants.

'We've seen some of the most skeptical customers turn into fanatics after taking just one bite of our Baja Fish Tacos,' said Butler.

Long John Silver's rich history began in 1969 with traditional batter-dipped recipes for seafood, chicken and shrimp. The brand has since launched popular menu items such as Buttered Langostino Lobster Bites and its signature Hushpuppies, which continue to be a favorite among Long John Silver's fans. Most recently, the fast food brand attracted new droves of health-conscious Americans by revealing its first-ever non-fried menu, Freshside Grille, as well as breakthrough menu items under 350 calories.

Now, marking the start of a new generation of seafood, Baja Fish Tacos offer yet another adventurous menu item that satisfies today's taste preferences.

Free Baja Fish Taco Day is an exclusive limited-time and one-day offer on Tuesday, July 14, open to 2:30 p.m., available to dine-in, carry out and drive-thru customers, and limited to one free Baja Fish Taco per customer. The new Baja Fish Tacos are available at all Long John Silver's starting June 22 for the regular price of 99 cents.
