The culinary stars were shining brightly Monday night at supperclub San Francisco's second Uber Dinner, where Executive Chef Guus Wickenhagen and two stellar guest chefs created a collaborative multi-course dinner at the provocative South of Market restaurant.
Jennie Lorenzo, Executive Chef from the Michelin-rated Fifth Floor Restaurant, and Jamie Lauren, Executive Chef at Absinthe Brasserie & Bar and star of Bravo's Top Chef each created a special course and dessert for the evening's gourmet prix fixe dinner. Wine parings from Huneeus Vintners included Veramonte, Quintessa Illumination and Faust, plus champagnes from Pommery and Charles Lafitte, and Francis Ford Coppola's Sophia Sparkling Wine.
"supperclub's Uber Dinners showcase the best in culinary arts," said General Manager Edme Straver. "The three chef's bold and exciting performances in the kitchen were an extension of the captivating performances in the dining room."
150 guests dined while reclining on Roman-style beds and enjoyed a variety of mesmerizing entertainment that included a daring aerialist, a sultry fire-wielding belly dancer, multi-media video performances, and complimentary massages provided by supperclub's resident massage therapists.
The menu began with Wickenhagen's Spicy Marinated Lobster with Coconut & Vanilla Mousse. Lauren's Chilled Corn Puree with Pickled Chili Oil and Mint preceded Lorenzo's Hamachi with English Peas, Golden Beets, and Charred Green Garlic, and Wickenhagen's Herb Oil Confit Veal Loin with Crispy Sweetbread, Salsify & Fava Bean Puree. The collaborative dessert course included Lauren's Epoisses Parfait with Cherry Marmalade, Lorenzo's Licorice Parfait with Strawberries, and Wickenhagen's Citrus Yogurt Mousse with Peach Compote.
Once the plates were cleared, DJs enticed guests to the dance floor with a mix of old favorites and modern tracks. "supperclub is a sensorial celebration of all types of art," added Straver. "We're very grateful to our guest chefs and wineries for their artistry and contributions that made this Uber Dinner such a magnificent event."
