The Sunny Delight Beverages Co. (SDBC) today announced the release of its 2008 Inaugural Sustainability Report which highlights its key economic, environmental and social sustainability goals and efforts to make sustainability a way of life throughout the company.
"The passion our employees have demonstrated for our sustainability efforts has been inspiring and has enabled us to reduce waste, energy, water, and the amount of plastic we use in our packaging, while producing more wholesome beverages than ever before," said SDBC President and Chief Executive Officer Billy Cyr. "We are proud of our accomplishments to date, but we recognize there is more to be done on our sustainability journey and we look forward to challenging ourselves even further."
The goals highlighted in the Sustainability Report are:
- Improve the wholesomeness of SDBC's product portfolio
- Reduce packaging materials and increase recycling content
- Reduce the carbon footprint of our transportation
- Reduce per-unit non-product related water usage by 25% by 2011*
- Reduce per-unit energy usage by 25% by 2011*
- Reduce per-unit carbon footprint by 25% by 2011*
- Send zero waste to landfills by 2013
- Enhance the wellness of SDBC employees
- Improve the communities in which we operate
