  • Restaurant News Resource In response to legal action taken by the owners of the original and authentic Buddha Bar in Paris, Dubai, Beirut, Sao Paolo, London, Kiev, Jakarta and Cairo, an appellate court in New York City ruled Tuesday that the Manhattan restaurant, calling itself Buddha-Bar NYC, must stop using the Buddha Bar name and concept.

"We are pleased with the ruling of the New York appellate court, which upholds the validity and enforceability of our rights to the name and concept in the United States," said Raymond Visan, the creator of Buddha Bar Worldwide. "We would like to take this opportunity to thank our customers for their loyal patronage and to assure everyone that authorized Buddha Bars worldwide will continue to provide the highest quality food, beverage and music for an unparalleled lifestyle experience."

Mr. Visan added that "The owners of the original Buddha Bar are committed to taking all appropriate action to stop any unauthorized use of the Buddha Bar name and concept so that patrons can be certain that they will have an authentic Buddha Bar experience whenever and wherever they visit an establishment with the Buddha Bar name around the world."

The Buddha Bar is a lifestyle brand that includes restaurants, hotels, resorts and spas throughout the world, as well as a critically acclaimed series of music CDs.
