  • Big Boy Restaurants Due to a nationwide tomato alert issued by the Food and Drug Administration, Big Boy Restaurants International LLC has ceased serving tomatoes at all of its Big Boy restaurants until further notice.

"We are committed to always serving the safest and finest quality food to our customers," said Tony Michaels, CEO of Big Boy Restaurants International LLC. "We're acting in response to the FDA's current recall of raw red plum, raw red Roma and raw round red tomatoes and its ongoing investigation into this matter.

"Effective Monday, June 9, as a precautionary measure, we've instructed all of our Big Boy restaurants to immediately stop serving raw tomatoes on all menu items. Since the state of Florida has been added as a possible source state of involvement, Reinhart Food Service, our food products distributor, has stopped shipping tomatoes until further notice. We will keep our stores and customers updated on the situation as changes occur," added Michaels.
