VICORP Restaurants Inc. Announces New President/CEO |
|
Restaurant Veteran Hazem Ouf to Lead Company's Reorganization Efforts |
VICORP Restaurants Inc., operator of Village Inn and Bakers Square restaurants, and its parent company VI Acquisition Corporation, today announced the appointment of Hazem Ouf as president and CEO. Ouf replaces Ken Keymer, CEO of the company since April 2007, who announced his plans to retire at the end of this month.
Ouf, a restaurant industry executive, brings more than 30 years of experience in the foodservice and hospitality industry to VICORP. Most recently, he served as the president/CEO for SSI, Inc., a Sun Capital affiliate company, owner and operator of more than 160 Souper Salad and Grandy's restaurants. Ouf also held senior leadership positions at Constellation Concepts, Lyons Restaurants, Stuart Anderson's Black Angus, and Spectrum Foods, Inc.
In addition, Ouf, as chief restructuring officer/CEO, successfully brought out of bankruptcy several restaurant companies including Constellation Concepts and Souper Salad. At VICORP, Ouf will be charged with overseeing the efforts to bring the company out of Chapter 11 bankruptcy and leading the organization forward.
'Hazem shows a strong passion for the restaurant business and for the leadership teams with whom he works,' said Keymer. 'He has a proven track record of turning companies around, and with his experience, positive attitude, and enthusiasm for the restaurant industry, I am confident that Hazem will help bring VICORP out of bankruptcy and move the company ahead to a brighter future.'
Headquartered in Denver, VICORP Restaurants Inc. operates two restaurant concepts under proven and well-recognized brands, Village Inn and Bakers Square. Founded in 1958, VICORP has 343 restaurants in 25 states, consisting of 250 company-operated restaurants and 93 franchised restaurants. Known for its strong breakfast heritage, Village Inn has been serving its signature breakfast items like one-of-a-kind skillet dishes and made-from-scratch pancakes for 50 years.
