  • Wingstop Wingstop President and CEO James A. Flynn announced today that first quarter comp store sales have increased by 8.9 percent. In a market in which many chains are struggling, Flynn says there are answers to the question 'Why Wingstop?'

'In this uncertain economic environment, consumers still want a treat but are judicious and more frugal about their choices,' said Flynn. 'Most of Wingstop's business is takeout and customers like picking up their favorite wings and having the option to add their own sides or drinks at home while not having to tip a wait person. We've also seen a huge uptick in our sales from the online ordering system we've created.'

First quarter 2008 sales marks the chain's 19th consecutive quarter of comp store increases, dating back to the third quarter of 2003 covering July, August and September. Wingstop just logged a banner year in 2007 with system-wide sales increasing 34.4 percent from $153.7 million in 2006 to $206.6 million in 2007. The rapidly-growing chain expects to open an additional 80 stores in 2008.
