  • Trader Vics Trader Vic's Restaurant Group continues to experience strong growth as the resurgence of the tiki consciousness continues to thrive around the world.

This year alone, Trader Vic's has opened new restaurants in Destin, Florida, Dallas, Texas and Shanghai, China. The Beverly Hills Trader Vic's was relocated poolside at the Beverly Hilton and quickly became one of the top new hot spots in the LA area. Amman, Jordan and Las Vegas are set to open in October and Beijing, China by years end.

Trader Vic's growing popularity is also evident by the brand's return to former markets. Ground will be broken this week for Corbin Park, a new high-end retail center just outside Kansas City that will include a Trader Vic's. Plans are also currently being finalized to bring Trader Vic's back to Chicago and Washington, DC in 2008.

"The strength of our brand continues to grow exponentially," said Robert L. Davies, President of Trader Vic's Restaurant Group. "Our history, creative cocktails and award-winning cuisine provide a truly unique, one-of-a-kind experience that resonates with patrons around the world."

Over the last decade, Trader Vic's has also entered new markets in the Middle East and Asia with resounding success. With the opening of the Amman, Jordan location, there will be nine restaurants in the Middle East, including Bahrain and four in the United Arab Emirates. The Asian market also continues to expand as the number of restaurants is expected to double within the next two years. Trader Vic's Shanghai was just selected by That's Shanghai Magazine as the best designed restaurant in the city and Enjoy China Magazine recognized the restaurant as one of Shanghai's top restaurant experiences.

"There are very few culinary icons like Trader Vic's -- its legacy in the restaurant world is unmatched," said Doc Wiener, founder of DW Enterprises, the developer behind the new Trader Vic's in Las Vegas. "We believe Trader Vic's reputation as a sophisticated yet fun and affordable dining experience perfectly suits tourists and Las Vegas locals, both of whom will appreciate the world-renowned cuisine that features dishes from Europe, Polynesia, Asia, and the Americas and the original libations that you can only find at Trader Vic's."

The global expansion has also literally taken off. Trader Vic's has partnered with United Airlines to offer Polynesian-inspired lunch and dinner selections on all mainland flights to and from Hawaii as well as the signature Trader Vic's Mai Tai in both United First(R) and United Business(R). The overwhelming response led United to expand the Trader Vic's offerings to United flights from Tokyo to Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok and Taiwan.
