Next Generation Specialty Coffee Shop Loco Jonny's Opens for Business in Frederick, MD, Giving Residents of Suburban Washington D.C. an Alternative to Bland Corporate Coffee
Loco Jonny's, a new concept in gourmet specialty coffee shops opens for business in Frederick, Maryland.
"Coffee drinkers are tired of corporate coffee shop chains that offer bland drinks served in a sterile fast food environment," says owner 'Loco' Jon Garvey. "We invested more than two years in careful planning to make sure that Loco Jonny's will offer flavorful, traditionally prepared espresso drinks in a colorful and comfortable setting."
"This is the kind of company that Starbucks fears," says coffee industry consultant Andrew Hetzel of Cafemakers, referring to a leaked internal Starbucks memo that recently grabbed newspaper headlines. In the memo, Starbucks Chairman Howard Schultz discusses management decisions that led to a loss of "soul" and "customer loyalty," to smaller competition, asserting that the situation "must be eradicated."
Hetzel continues, "Modern independent coffee shops are hitting the chains where they cannot compete, by offering better, rather than bigger drinks in an environment that expresses in the individuality of its customers."
Customers at Loco Jonny's will find an atmosphere with flair and beverages made by baristas that they will call anything but bland. The "tradizionale" in-house beverage menu features espresso and popular espresso drinks, prepared using traditional techniques and served in sizes that are much smaller than average American-style fast food restaurants. "Large drinks hide the flavor of bad coffee," says Garvey "we feature the intense sweet flavor of correctly prepared espresso in all of our drinks."
Loco Jonny's is located at 177 Thomas Johnson Drive, Suite D, between Frederick Community College and Fort Detrick in Frederick, MD. Open Monday through Saturday 6:30 am to 6:00 pm.
