National Chain Breaks Its All-Time Single Day Sales Record
Wingstop Restaurants broke its all-time single day sales record on Super Bowl Sunday. The national chain sold three million chicken wings systemwide at their more than 280 locations in 26 states on the day of the big game.
Since Wingstop's inception 12 years ago, Super Bowl Sunday has consistently netted the chain its largest gross sales day each year. In 2006, the company sold 2.5 million wings on game day. The company is on target to sell its one-billionth wing sometime in mid-2007.
"Super Bowl Sunday is one of the most exciting days of the year for us," said Jim Flynn, Wingstop's CEO. "We have guests that return to Wingstop year after year because they know that we're the wing experts and our wings will be prepared fresh and made-to-order -- even on a day when we make more than three million of them."
