  • Soup Kitchen International The Soups That Made Seinfeld Famous Come To Lower Manhattan on December 12th

The Original SoupMan, makers of the soups of Al Yeganeh, who inspired the "Soup Episode" on Seinfeld, today announced the upcoming grand opening of its newest location at 110 Pearl Street, Hanover Square, in Lower Manhattan, December 12, at 12:00 p.m. Yeganeh's hunger charity, "Al's Feed the Hungry Foundation," will also make a donation to City Harvest, New York City's only food rescue organization. Every week, City Harvest helps over 260,000 hungry New Yorkers find their next meal. The first 100 people in line at the grand opening will receive a free SoupMan T-shirt.

Since 1984, New Yorkers and tourist alike have waited in line at Yeganeh's "Soup Kitchen International," in all kinds of weather just for taste of his Zagat-rated Lobster Bisque and Jambalaya. In 2004, Yeganeh closed the shop to prepare for the launch of his international franchise, which currently has 18 locations nationwide -- eight of which are located in New York City.

The Hanover Square shop will showcase Yeganeh's 50 varieties of soup as the "centerpiece of the meal," each presented with a piece of fresh, crusty baguette, fresh fruit and a piece of imported chocolate-just like Al served it at his original shop. As Yeganeh explains it, this is simply "the way to eat."

"Al's Feed the Hungry Foundation" donates funds to local charities every time a new Original SoupMan location opens. The charity is headed up by Baseball Hall of Fame legend, Reggie Jackson.
