  • Extraordinary Chefs Unite for an Important Cause: The American Liver Foundation's Second Annual 'Flavors of New York' Culinary Gala Benefit Ducasse, Haeberlin, Bocuse Among the Great Chefs to Participate

    NEW YORK, March 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The world's most esteemed chefs converge at The Pierre Hotel in New York on Thursday, April 11, 2002 where they will prepare a seven course culinary extravaganza to raise awareness for liver disease, research and organ donation. The proceeds from the evening's meal will go to the American Liver Foundation of Greater New York.

    This year, Honorary Chairmen Sirio Maccioni and his sons, owners of Le Cirque 2000 and Osteria del Circo, will host this special dinner with Executive Chef Pierre Schaedelin of Le Cirque 2000 serving as coordinating chef.

    The seven-course, once-in-a-lifetime meal will be prepared by a who's who of the gastronomic world including:

    -- Marc Haeberlin of L'Auberge de L'Ill in Alsace, France
    -- Paul Bocuse of Restaurant Paul Bocuse in Lyon, France

    -- Alain Sailhac of The French Culinary Institute in New York, NY
    -- Jacques Torres of Jacques Torres Chocolates in Brooklyn, NY
    -- Executive Chef Franz Klampfer of The Pierre Hotel, New York, NY



    Tony Award-winning producer Marty Richards will serve as Master of Ceremonies. The evening's special honoree is Richard Zahn, vice president of Schering-Plough Corporation and president of the company's U.S. prescription pharmaceutical marketing arm, Schering Laboratories. The American Liver Foundation-Greater New York Chapter will present its prestigious Spirit of New York Award to Zahn for Schering-Plough's leadership role in improving disease management systems and their ongoing commitment to research and development.
