Delicato Named Fastest Growing of Top California Wineries; Winery achieves 15% growth last year |
|
Delicato Family Vineyards was named the fastest growing of California's top ten wineries in 2004 by authoritative wine industry consultants Gomberg, Fredrikson & Associates. |
According to the latest Gomberg-Fredrikson Report, Delicato's bottled wine sales grew 15% while their bulk export business soared 72%. These are higher growth percentages than any of California's other top ten wineries. "This large family winery has been highly innovative, rolling out a premium 'bota'(box) and new lifestyle brands ... at consumer friendly prices," said the report.
According to Steve Morgan, Delicato's Vice President of Marketing, the firm launched two very successful new consumer brands last year, Delicato Bota Box and King Fish. "These two premium wine brands with innovative packaging totaled well over 100 thousand cases during their introductory year," he said. "They have been great hits with consumers."
The Delicato Family Vineyards Bota Box line consists of five popular, award-winning premium varietal wines - Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Merlot, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon packaged in an innovative, compact 3.0 liter Bota Box retailing for about $17.99. Each Bota Box contains the equivalent of four 750ml bottles stored in a collapsible bag. Wine is poured through an easy - to - use tap. This technology permits the wine to remain fresh for up to 45 days after opening. "Our Bota Box is so successful," Morgan stated, "we added Pinot Grigio this year."
The Winery also introduced King Fish as a new value brand. Created with bright, contemporary and distinctive packaging, the King Fish line sells for about $5.99 and consists of Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz and White Shiraz in 750ml bottles. King Fish Chardonnay, Shiraz and Merlot were recently introduced in three liter boxes.
For 80 years, the Indelicato family has been growing quality wine grapes while assembling a portfolio of world class, estate vineyards. Today, the Delicato Winery harvests thousands of acres across the top regions of California including the San Bernabe Vineyard in Monterey, the most diverse single vineyard in the world and Clay Station Vineyard located in the rolling foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains east of Lodi, California.
