  • Jack in the Box It's time to bust out the Buddy Holly records and dust off the hula hoop, because starting today Jack in the Box® restaurants are offering tasty new fare with '50s flair -- Sourdough Melts and the Chocolate Malted Crunch Shake.

Reminiscent of diner food popular in the 1950s, Jack's new Sourdough Melts feature the chain's signature sourdough bread with either a jumbo beef patty or chicken fillet topped with grilled onions, a slice of American and Swiss-style cheese, mayo-onion sauce and sweet mustard. The Chocolate Malted Crunch Shake is made with real vanilla ice cream, bittersweet chocolate syrup and chocolate-covered malt pieces.

"We live in a very hectic, technological age," said Michelle Vespa, director of menu marketing and innovation. "Foods like patty melts and malts not only remind consumers of simpler times, but they also provide a sense of comfort and a feeling of home."

The Sourdough Melts are available for a suggested price, excluding tax, of $2.99 with a jumbo beef patty and $3.49 with a chicken fillet. The Chocolate Malted Crunch Shake is available for a suggested price, excluding tax, of $1.99 for a small, $2.29 for a medium and $3.29 for a large at all participating Jack in the Box restaurants. Jack is also offering a special Diner Melts Combo that features a Sourdough Melt, Chocolate Malted Crunch Shake and an order of the chain's new Natural Cut Fries.
